Building Tomorrow Project

In 2023 Holy Trinity Geneva completed phase one of the church’s ambitious Building Tomorrow Project.
Plans will shortly be considered by the Church Council in relation to the second phase of the project.

Renovating our building for future generations

Phase One

In September 2023 Holy Trinity Geneva completed Phase One of the church’s ambitious Building Tomorrow Project.

The overall aim of the project is to ensure that HTC continues to serve as a place of worship and community outreach for this generation and for generations to come.

Phase One of the project involved the restoration of the church itself, including new flooring and lighting, refinished woodwork, including pews and restoration of the porch and stonework as well as changes to improve energy efficiency.

Phase Two of the project which is expected to begin in 2025 will allow us to renovate and modernise the existing hall and create additional space through creating a second basement.

Project Objectives:

The objectives fall under four headings:

  • Restoration – this applies mainly to essential restoration of the external and some internal stonework in the church, damaged over time by weather.

  • Aesthetics – replacement of the floor, lighting, inner doors to the porches and repainting of the church (already visible in part), together with renovation of the pews and wainscotting, will make the church and subsequently the church hall a much lighter, more welcoming, and agreeable space.

  • Environmental – replacement of the oil boiler with gas and we hope eventually with renewable energy, coupled with better controls; all LED lighting; secondary glazing on the windows and modern insulation where possible; the creation of an ecological garden.

  • Practical – increased flexibility through removing and storing some of the pews and introducing moveable choir stalls; modernisation of the whole building to comply with fire, health and safety regulations and facilitating access, including widening the external staircase and installing modern stairlifts; modern partitioning to maximise use of present space and creating additional space to encompass our growing ministry; moving and modernizing the kitchen; refurbishment of porch, vestry and office.
