Sunday, December 29th, 1st Sunday after Christmas
This will be Canon Alex’ and Geraldine’s last Sunday with us. In order to give them a good send-off, the choir will be singing at the 10h30 service, favourites of Alex’s including the Haydn ‘Little Organ Mass’. Do come for this final service. There will also be a service at 09h00, but as is normal, no service in the evening at 19h00.
Sunday, 5th January, Epiphany
Exceptionally, the choir will therefore postpone its Christmas break by one week and will not be there for Epiphany Sunday. We are planning some African music, together with some well-known Epiphany hymns for the 10h30 service. If you would like to join in that and in helping to lead the congregation in singing, please contact either Joan Kalibala or Julia Lacey. It would be good to make a joyful noise for the Lord on this important festival. We will be welcoming the Revd. Maree Wilson, who will be leading the services on Epiphany Sunday and for the rest of January. There will also be a 09h00 and 19h00 service as usual – more details on the latter to follow.
Sunday, 12th January, 1st Sunday after Epiphany
A small group of choir members will lead the singing at the 10h30. Do come and join us if you would like to. The 09h00 service will be as usual.
The full choir will return for Choral Eucharist in the evening, when they will sing the Vierne Mass Solonelle, which will later be sung at the Archdeaconry Choir Festival in Zurich. If you are not a member of the choir but would be interested in singing for this occasion, contact Mark Charles. Members of other Archdeaconry choirs will be invited for 12th January, so do anyway come and support us as we host them in the evening.
CANON ALAN AMOS. We are delighted that Canon Alan is recovered and it is planned that he will be our locum priest for the first three weeks of February, which starts with Candlemas on 2nd February.
