I was privileged to read Alan Downing’s book on the Restoration of the Holy Trinity Church clock, when it was in manuscript. It was a considerable pleasure even at that stage. Now that it comes resplendant with excellent photographs and drawings, it is a MUST for anyone who has an interest in Holy Trinity Church or church clocks. Even with an interest in neither, this is a good story, entertainingly written. It combines a mixture of history, technical detail, the travails of navigating through bureacracy and human foibles.
Copies are limited and I highly recommend the book either for yourself or for a present priced at 20chf and available from the office or after Sunday services.
