Holy Trinity Church

Anglican worship in Geneva

Passers-by will have noticed that the church clock is now fully restored to its former glory and working accurately – all thanks to a very generous donation from a Geneva charitable trust and the hard work of members of Geneva’s horological school, under the direction of M. Jean-Pierre Curchod.  A book detailing the process, written by Alan Downing who was responsible for much of the negotiation behind the scenes, will soon be available from church.

On Friday 28thSeptember, this work was recognised and celebrated, and a blessing invoked upon the clock at a special service which was followed by an inspection of the work and outdoor reception for about sixty people including representatives of the Ville de Genève, the Horological School and members of Holy Trinity congregation.

The photograph on the right shows the restored clock mechanism installed in the tower, which is now fully automatic and thanks to modern electronics, always accurate to within a few seconds!
