OPEN TO ALL THE CONGREGATION
Why should this interest me?
Safeguarding is something that concerns our whole congregation. We each have an absolute duty to try and make our church and our community a safe and secure place of welcome for children and any others who may be vulnerable. As part of this, we need to raise our awareness of potential safeguarding issues and, if we suspect that there may be an issue or a potential issue, to bring it to the attention of the relevant people.
For some, Safeguarding training is mandatory. That includes all clergy, wardens, Council members, all those who work with our children, and others working with potentially vulnerable adults. Sidespeople and welcomers are also urged to do this.
However, we encourage as many of our congregation as possible to join in the training, at least the first step which is to complete the two modules of on-line training, one covering children and the other vulnerable adults. They can each be completed in about 20 minutes. Go to the Diocesan website : www.europe.anglican.org, click on on-line training and follow instructions. The chaplaincy ID code is : Geneva.
The second step is to attend the half-day training on Saturday, 28th September. You cannot do this without having completed the on-line modules and taking your certificate with you. You would be very welcome, but please let Pierre Laravoire know in advance.
