The World Day of Prayer celebration will take place on Friday, 1st March, 2019 at 12.30 in the Chapel at the Ecumenical Centre, 150 route de Ferney, Grand Saconnex (buses 5, 28 or F). The theme is “Come – everything is ready!” (Luke 14:15-24). This year the liturgy has been prepared by the women of the churches of Slovenia.
Refreshments and a bake sale will be available before and after the service in the lobby. The proceeds from both the service and the sale of refreshments will go to a project supporting women and young people in Slovenia.
The day before, Thursday, 28nd February, 2019, there will be a bible study on the above theme, which will take place in Salle IV of the Ecumenical Centre from 12.30-13.30, when soup and cheese will be served. Dr Clare Amos will lead the bible study. Since her recent retirement from her position at the World Council of Churches as Programme Coordinator for interreligious dialogue and cooperation Dr Clare Amos continues to be actively engaged in the life and ministry of the churches and the theological world. Clare is a biblical scholar by background, an Anglican Christian who became interested in interreligious engagement through her own lived experiences in the Middle East where she studied and taught for a decade. She has a particular passion for encouraging people to wrestle with the insights offered by scripture in responding to contemporary global concerns, not least the roles of women in church and society.
These two events are organised by the Geneva English-speaking group for the World Day of Prayer.
